Fleets: The Future of Electric Vehicles?

Comment
Leasys Flotte

The energy transition of company vehicles is accelerating, but it remains constrained by financial and regulatory imperatives.

As regulatory and environmental pressure intensifies, French companies seem ready to evolve their fleets. According to the Mobility Trends and Challenges barometer conducted by OpinionWay for Leasys France, 64% of the executives surveyed have already modified or are considering modifying their fleet to meet new standards and tax incentives.

This transformation is far from being driven solely by environmental considerations. The study reveals that the main criterion for decisions remains economic: 43% of executives place the total cost of ownership (TCO) at the center of their choice, ahead of employee preferences or energy transition initiatives. Cash flow preservation (31%) and administrative management simplification (29%) complement these priorities, highlighting the key role of financing solutions like Long-Term Rental (LLD) to balance flexibility and cost control.

The pros, actors of the electric transition

The transition to hybrid and electric drivetrains mainly concerns large companies today: 82% of them have already acted or plan to make a change, compared to 52% of smaller structures. In Île-de-France, 42% of executives also consider the CSR dimension in their mobility decisions, compared to a national average of 24%. Conversely, 36% of companies do not plan any evolution, citing high investment costs, operational constraints, or a lack of infrastructure.

At the same time, expectations towards service providers are evolving. Beyond simply providing vehicles, contractual flexibility (45%), service proximity (36%), and business continuity (replacement vehicle for 54% of companies) are becoming major criteria.
