Ionity Targets Fleet Operators

While the consumer market stagnates or even regresses, the future of European electric cars lies in corporate fleets.

Ionity, a major player in high-performance charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, recently introduced Ionity Fleet, a solution specifically designed for corporate fleets. While the residential market progresses slowly, fleets, including those most favored by taxis or VTCs, seem to be a key lever to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across Europe.

This offering features competitive rates, simplified management, and access to over 4,800 ultra-fast charging stations across 24 European countries. These stations, capable of reaching a power of 350 kW, significantly reduce charging times, a major advantage for maximizing fleet efficiency. Like all Ionity infrastructure, these stations operate exclusively on renewable energy, a crucial criterion for companies seeking to align their activities with environmental objectives.

The return of the fuel card

The system is based on a well-known model for companies: the charging card, which is reminiscent of the fuel cards used for decades for thermal fleets. A dedicated RFID card provides quick and easy access to charging stations without requiring complex identification. Companies managing large fleets can even customize this card.

This Ionity initiative fits into a logical trend of adapting traditional tools and services to the context of e-mobility. While it responds to a growing demand for solutions tailored to fleet needs, it does not radically innovate but rather adapts proven models to electric vehicles. It is likely that other providers will quickly follow this path, thus strengthening the available offerings for businesses and accelerating the energy transition in this key segment.
