“Explosive” Discovery at Tesla Factory in Berlin

A huge 250 kg bomb from World War II has been discovered on the edge of the German factory of Tesla.

The expansion plans for the German Tesla factory in the suburbs of Berlin are already facing minor issues. Such as the discovery of an unexploded 70-year-old bomb. Weighing 250 kg, it will require bomb disposal experts to detonate it during the weekend of June 29-30, 2024, with a significant safety perimeter to observe.

This controlled explosion will necessitate the relocation of environmental activists who have occupied the forest in opposition to the expansion of the Tesla factory.

Why an expansion?

Tesla has never really communicated its needs for expanding the factory in Berlin. Even though the initial production rate of 500,000 cars per year has never been achieved – with sales actually declining compared to 2023 – there are known upcoming projects. Currently, only the Tesla Model Y is produced in Europe.

The most ambitious plan involves the 25,000 euro vehicle promised by Tesla for 2026 to accelerate its growth. There is also suspicion of bringing back the production of the Model 3, which is currently produced in China for the European market and will, starting June 1, 2024, be affected by a tripling of import duties.

The Brandenburg State has approved this highly controversial expansion, citing the promise of job creation.
