BYD Wants to Take Down Tesla’s Cybertruck

The Chinese manufacturer BYD is determined not to give its American competitor any respite. The battle of the titans is heating up!

A quick look at the BYD catalog confirms that for every Tesla, there is an equivalent. The Seal for the Model 3, the Seal U for the Model Y, The Tang for the Model X, and the Han for the Model S. And if Tesla finally decides to enter the under-20,000-euro car market, Elon Musk will face the Seagull. In fact, only the Cybertruck remains spared, but this probably won’t last anymore.

BYD has leaked the first images of a 100% electric pickup designed not only to challenge Tesla but especially Ford, GM, and Rivian! However, it is difficult to guess what is hidden behind the orange and blue camouflage, both on the exterior and the interior of the vehicle.

The only certainty is that BYD has decided to take a very classic stylistic approach, far from the distinctive lines of the Cybertruck. The bold style is rarely a choice made from the heart by Chinese manufacturers. No futuristic bodywork, no hidden handles, no oversized wheels,… just a sturdy pickup. Mainly, one can imagine that BYD has global ambitions and not just local. Unlike Tesla’s beast, which is unlikely to be homologated in certain markets like France because of its features.

But does that mean BYD will challenge Tesla on American soil? The United States certainly love pickup trucks, but many Asian countries such as Thailand do too.
