Stellantis advances in automated driving with Hi-Drive
Stellantis presented its latest automated driving technologies in Brussels as part of the European project Hi-Drive.
Stellantis participated in the Hi-Drive Final Event in Brussels to showcase the evolution of its automated driving systems. The event allowed the group to demonstrate the maturity of its technologies and their ability to manage real traffic conditions.
Hi-Drive is currently one of the main European programs dedicated to advanced vehicle automation. It aims to develop systems capable of operating in varied environments while ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency on a daily basis. This project relies on close collaboration between manufacturers, industry players, and research centers.
Autonomy, a key issue
In this context, Stellantis unveiled two demonstration vehicles. The Peugeot E-2008 uses a complete set of sensors – eight Lidars, nine cameras, and four radars – combined with V2X connections. This combination allows the vehicle to collect and analyze data in 360° to validate automated functions in urban settings.
The Maserati Levante, for its part, highlights the contributions of high-definition mapping and V2X communications to generate real-time alerts and dynamically recognize signage.
Connectivity remains a central element for future automated vehicles, particularly through short-range communications and 5G. These technologies aim to facilitate the exchange of information between vehicles and infrastructures to improve the understanding of the road environment.
