BeTriton: The Amphibious Caravan Bike, Perfect for Holidays?
This page is translated from the original post "BeTriton : le vélo caravane amphibie, idéal pour les vacances ?" in French.

Why hesitate between a bicycle, a motorhome, and a boat when the BeTriton combines all three into one vehicle?
Traveling by bicycle is an increasingly popular solution. Today, trailers exist to carry your luggage, but you also need accommodation, whether in a hotel or a tent. And there’s no way to add a canoe. Coming from Latvia, the BeTriton offers another solution.
BeTriton, the 3-in-1 electric bicycle
This curious vehicle, formerly called Z-Triton, has three functions: cargo bike, boat, and caravan. The bicycle part at the front drives the small boat, whose cabin serves as a haven of peace at night (or as transportation for a second person).
Its size is compact, measuring 3.95 meters long, less than a Renault ZOE type car, and weighing 250 kg. Despite its giant dimensions for a cargo bike, it does not require a license and falls into category L2e. With electric assist, the BeTriton is equipped with a 2.6 kWh battery, which is five times larger than a standard e-bike. Its designers estimate it could cover 50 to 100 km depending on conditions. The motor, up to 1,000 W, is capable of propelling the entire vehicle up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h.
Limited boat mode
Switching from bike to boat mode takes only 5 minutes. The front cycling section lifts to stay above water, the propeller deploys, and buoyancy devices stabilize the BeTriton on the sides.
This water mode demands more energy, and the vehicle has only 20 km of autonomy in this aquatic mode with the dedicated 1.5 kW motor, at a maximum speed of 5 km/h. However, paddles can be added to assist navigation or simply for the fun of maneuvering without a motor. Still, surfing the Atlantic is not an option; this vehicle can only navigate rivers, lakes, or ponds.
And a true camping-bike!
In camping mode, the BeTriton can accommodate two people inside its cabin. And this in all seasons, since air conditioning and heating are possible thanks to the bike’s battery. It also powers an audio system and USB ports for charging various mobile devices. An optional foldable table at the rear allows two people to dine together, although one must stay inside the cabin to enjoy it. Bonus: a small plant can decorate your vehicle on the roof in addition to solar panels!
As expected, the BeTriton does not come cheap. Its launch price is €14,500 before taxes, approximately €17,400 in France. That’s nearly equivalent to the electric Dacia Spring, but it does not yet offer an amphibious version…
