Northern Light Motors: a bike transformed into a small car

With or without electric assistance, or completely pedal-free with a small electric motor: Northern Light Motors’ tricycle offers choices!

This rather surprising machine measures 3.4 meters long and 1.2 meters wide. Its dimensions place it halfway between a three-wheeled scooter and a microcar like the Citroën Ami. The weight varies from 42 kilograms to 55 kilograms depending on the configuration chosen.

Named 428, the lightest model is without electric assistance. You will need strong calves to move forward, as with over 40 kilos on the scale, the vehicle weighs much more than a traditional bike!

For those who want to get some exercise without too much effort, Northern Light Motors offers the 557. Equipped with electric assistance, this model can reach speeds of over 60 km/h. Like the 428, it is fitted with a 10-speed derailleur. As for the range, Northern Light Motors states it at 50 miles, roughly 80 km.

A pedal-free model capable of reaching 70 km/h

And for those who want to make no effort at all, there’s the 630, a pedal-free model with a more powerful electric motor (1.5 kW). It reaches a maximum speed of 45 mph (about 70 km/h) and promises a slightly higher range of over 60 km. Northern Light Motors has equipped it with higher-performance brakes and better tires.

All models are equipped with lighting and a removable roof to face bad weather. The 557 and the 630 also feature a small instrument display on the handlebar. As for the price, expect around £4,000 for the 428, and £5,000 for the 557 (€4,690 and €5,870). The 630 costs £6,000 (€7,040). Northern Light Motors offers several options, such as a GPS tracker, a reverse camera, or a battery that can extend the range to about 160 km.
