Refurbished Cityscoot scooters for sale on Back Market

Electric scooters under €2,000: an interesting proposition on paper. However, Cityscoot needs to provide more information to reassure potential buyers.

The operator Cityscoot has partnered with the platform Back Market to create a used scooter offer. The vehicles, which are part of the operator’s free-floating fleets, are refurbished and repainted. Sold for €1,885, they are slightly cheaper than new electric scooters but are not eligible for the €100 bonus offered nationwide. Deliveries will be handled by partner dealerships within 14 days. Residents in Île-de-France will be directly delivered to their homes within 7 days.

What about the condition of the battery?

The refurbished Cityscoots — or TOOCS, as they are officially called — come with a 24-month warranty. They are obviously functional, but it’s impossible to know to what extent they have been tested in the past. Cityscoot and its partner do not specify the condition of the battery, which is an essential and very costly component to replace.

Cityscoot’s two-wheelers are from the German brand Govecs, which has factories in Spain and Germany. Classified among the 50cc equivalents, they are accessible without a license and limited to 45 km/h. Their range is estimated at about forty kilometers. A full charge takes approximately 6 hours.

Faced with serious difficulties, Cityscoot has been forced to reduce its operations in recent months. In the Paris region, the fleet has decreased from 3,500 to 2,500 scooters. In return, the operator has committed to distributing them more evenly across the capital. However, this promise has not been fully fulfilled. A simple look at the app shows that some neighborhoods — or entire districts — are regularly without scooters.
