Makka Polestar edition-by CAKE 1

Polestar’s latest release is not a car, but a moped. It is the result of a collaboration between the car manufacturer and Cake, a Swedish company also specializing in electric two-wheelers.

The moped in question is not a new vehicle. It is the Cake Makka, a 50 cc equivalent electric scooter that has been on the market for some time. It previously served as the basis for a first collaboration between the two Swedish companies.

The redesigned version with Polestar features a sky blue color reminiscent of the Polestar electric roadster concept. It also has a yellow Öhlins shock absorber, and a detachable rack. This accessory developed by Cake can support a top case or hold a passenger’s seat.

The electric moped is limited to 45 km/h. Drivers can choose between 2 driving modes. The removable battery is placed between their legs. With a capacity of 1.5 kWh, it offers an estimated range of 54 km. Recharging is done via a standard domestic power outlet, taking about 3 hours to restore 100% of the range.

The Cake Makka is approved for the limited speed category of 45 km/h. It is thus accessible without a license from the age of 14.

Cake Makka by Polestar: a price over €5,000

The Polestar edition of the Makka will be available on Cake’s website. In some countries, customers will also be able to order through the Polestar Additions online shop. In terms of price, it will cost €5,300 to purchase one. This is a high price for an electric 50 cc scooter, but not surprising. Cake’s productions are generally expensive, even without a special edition. A basic Makka without accessories (meaning without the rear rack and with a more basic shock absorber) starts at €4,470.
