Honda Dax e

To expand its range of electric vehicles, Honda is not hesitant to draw from its rich history.

Honda has just introduced the Dax e, an electric version of the famous Dax. This novelty is part of a major electrification plan by the Japanese brand. At first glance, the Dax e resembles a true motorized two-wheeler, but the presence of pedals shows that it is actually a kind of large electric-assist bicycle. Moreover, the maximum speed is limited to 25 km/h.

The Dax e initially appears to be aimed at the Chinese market, as it was presented by Honda’s Chinese subsidiary. An eventual rollout in Europe has not been mentioned. Could the pedal-powered motorcycle concept, which is also found on the Niu SQi, be successful here? Nothing is certain.

In addition to the Dax e, Honda introduced a Zommer e and a Cub e, two vehicles also inspired by iconic models of the brand. Again, these are electric devices limited to 25 km/h and equipped with pedals. They also seem to be reserved for the Chinese market. For Europe, Honda revealed a few months ago the EM1, a “real” scooter approved in the 50 cc category. Less visually playful, it also appears much better suited to the expectations of our market.

Motron Cubertino, the other Honda Cub electric

Cub enthusiasts who want to switch to electric can turn to the Cubertino. However, be careful, as this model has nothing to do with Honda. Manufactured in China, it is marketed by Motron, a brand founded by the Austrian group KSR. The Cubertino is an equivalent of 50 cc and therefore does not require any special license or training. Very basic, fairly pleasant to ride, it has unfortunately seen its prices rise significantly and now costs €2,700 (excluding ecological bonus).
