One of the pioneers of e-bike manufacturing in France, NeoMouv, has acquired an 80% stake in Portuguese bicycle manufacturer UNIBIKE.
NEOMOUV is today acquiring UNIBIKE, a specialist in painting and bicycle assembly in Portugal. Through its parent company VAxE, the e-bike company can thus secure its technical supplies of paint and assembly in Portugal.
Indeed, UNIBIKE owns a manufacturing site covering 15,000 m2 located between Porto and Coimbra. Its solar panels supply 75% of its energy. Moreover, the warehouse features “automated chains for powder coating, liquid coating, and carbon paint processes, and its operators are experts in water sticker application under varnish.”
NeoMouv can thus be equipped with a manufacturer that supplies up to 250,000 bikes per year in Portugal. The company continues its expansion across the Iberian Peninsula.
The e-bike market, a booming sector?
Electric bicycles (e-bikes) are becoming increasingly common in France. According to Union Sport et Cycle, last year, e-bike companies sold over 738,000 bicycles. That equates to two bikes per person in Nice (population 340,017 in 2017 according to INSEE).
