Opel Returns to Algeria
This page is translated from the original post "Opel revient en Algérie" in French.

Three models will be available from November 19, 2023, on the Algerian market. The Opel Mokka, Astra, and Grandland.
This was announced by Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel, Hakim Boutehra, General Manager of Stellantis Maghreb, and Nassim Benguergoura, General Manager of Halil Commerce & Industry (HCI), during a press conference held in Algiers. The German brand is thus returning to Algeria six years after having been forced to leave. In 2017, the government at that time had indeed imposed an import ban on new vehicles.
“Today is a great day for the Opel brand, which is returning to Algeria. I am convinced that our cutting-edge vehicles will delight Algerian customers and meet a wide range of mobility needs. Opel is synonymous with German engineering, bold and pure design, and efficient powertrains,” said Florian Huettl in Algiers.
Opel continues its expansion into non-European markets. The German manufacturer has already recorded a 60% increase in sales in 2023 compared to the same period last year. With Algeria, a new market is added to the so-called MEA region (Middle East & Africa). Opel is already present in 13 other countries in this region, including Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa, and Turkey. Overall, Opel is represented in 30 markets outside Europe.
