Decathlon launches its Black Friday with an initial wave of promotions, including a particularly enticing deal on the Riverside 520 E.

Competition in the cycling world is currently phenomenal, and Decathlon is not spared. Too many new players have entered the market to take advantage of this opportunity, and prices are being halved or even tripled. Who could have thought, just two years ago, that a city bike such as the Riverside 520 E would be worth less than 1,000 euros!

Decathlon’s experience in cycling is well known, with a very comprehensive range. It has established itself under the B’twin brand, the giant of French sports equipment. Smaller branches have grown within, such as Rockrider mountain bikes, Triban for road bikes, Oxylane folding bikes, or urban Elops. And then there are Riverside, these true Swiss Army knives with two wheels, where our model of the day fits in.

The Decathlon Riverside 520 E succeeds the best-selling 500 E and features the well-known Riverside frame with a seamlessly integrated electric component. Available in two colors, blue and gray, it is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, a Suntour fork (63 mm travel), and an 8-speed Microshift derailleur. For urban use, it can optionally accommodate mudguards. The 520 E uses the same motor part as the 500 E, which is great! The 250W motor unit integrated into the rear hub provides a satisfying torque of 42 Nm. Three assistance modes allow everyone to pedal at their own pace.

The main strength of this e-bike is its 500 Wh lithium-ion battery, which allows it to cover almost 100 km on a single charge. For obvious marketing reasons, Decathlon says “more than 100 km,” but approaching this mark is already more than enough.

Sold at 1,399 euros, it was already a good deal. At 999 euros, it becomes a very attractive promotion!
