The prices of MG vehicles are expected to increase significantly

Due to the Lack of Eco Bonus, in 15 days the entire MG electric range will no longer be able to display record-breaking prices.

On December 15th, ADEME will deliver its verdict in the form of a list of vehicles eligible for the revised Eco Bonus. It is no longer sufficient to be electric to be considered eco-friendly. To qualify for this aid, the vehicle must meet a minimum environmental score. This score takes into account the environmental impact of a vehicle from its manufacturing to its use on the road. Manufactured in China and transported by boat to European customers, we suspected that MG would present a dossier capable of meeting these criteria.

Well, MG apparently didn’t even try to submit files to ADEME. Julien Robert, sales director of the MG network, shared this with our colleagues at Auto Actu during an interview. “We did not submit a file to benefit from it and I don’t think we will,” he stated. Saving energy and time, and avoiding the risk of revealing confidential information about its manufacturing, delivery, and especially marketing processes. Not so naive, the Chinese hornet!

In 2023, MG rose to the third place among electric vehicle manufacturers. With over 3,000 registered cars, almost one in ten electric cars sold in France in October was an MG. These good results are obviously largely due to the remarkably successful MG4, which ranks in the Top 20 of all-energy sales. So far, more than 21,000 new MGs have hit the roads in France this year, representing a 220% increase compared to the same period last year.

MG probably still has tricks up its sleeve and is expected to soon unveil attractive offers after December 15th. Even without the Eco Bonus, a MG4 XPOWER remains the most affordable electric sports car on the market, and the MG5 station wagon has no price/performance equivalent on the market.
