The Decathlon Elops 120 E is now free (for employees)

The rental offer provided by Decathlon for its electric assist bike Elops 120 E aligns with the Sustainable Mobility Package.

We apologize for the lack of clarity in the headline: the Decathlon Elops 120 E is not “free,” but it’s almost. Indeed, if you are an employee, your employer is required to grant and pay you a Sustainable Mobility Package to motivate the energy transition.

This Sustainable Mobility Package, amounting to 700 euros per year per employee, is of course exempt from taxes and social contributions. 700 / 12 months = 58.33 euros.

A Nearly Free Rental!

In response to this Sustainable Mobility Package, Decathlon has just adjusted the rental price of its electric assist bike (EAB) to 59 euros / month. Ultimately, the remaining cost for the employee is only 0.67 euros per month. It’s safe to say that the amount charged is purely symbolic to at least minimally encourage customers to take responsibility…

Beyond the cost, the relevance of purchasing an electric bike (EAB) is worth questioning if you want to give up your car to reduce your carbon footprint and improve your physical health. In Paris, bike theft is so widespread that renting (with insurance) seems a much more sensible solution. In the capital, 50% of cyclists have already been victims of a bike theft.

At just 66 cents per month, the Decathlon Elops 120 E invites you to start pedaling. Otherwise, its price is now 799 euros, but the subsidies available for EABs continue to decrease.

Your monthly bike subscription includes:

• A breakage service. In case of partial or total damage, we commit to taking the necessary steps to repair it.
• Bike theft insurance and provision of a certified lock.
• A complete overhaul with brake adjustments, transmission tune-up, and steering head bearing check.
