Tesla Model 3: the depreciation accelerates and now we know why

The price of 20,000 euros has been breached downwards for 2022 Tesla Model 3 with low mileage.

Two new pieces of information are worth noting: 1. the prices of used Teslas are in free fall and there seems to be no stop in sight, 2. examples from abroad are flooding the French market.

Starting with the first point, it is evident that the renewal of the Model 3 at the end of 2023 has accelerated the depreciation of Tesla values like never before. In just three months, the same car has lost 10,000 euros on the reference site La Centrale. Now, a very nice example can be negotiated for under 20,000 euros!

This is the case of a version 275 RWD equipped with the Standard battery of 50 kWh. Two years old (2022 model) and showing less than 51,000 kilometers, this is a very good deal considering its absolutely pristine exterior and interior condition. The presence of front and rear mudguards, which help keep the bodywork cleaner, also reflects the meticulousness of its previous owner.

Teslas from Northern Europe

However, one last indicator stands out: this example is not from France, but from Sweden. A country that has already largely shifted towards electric, and whose used car market is not hungry enough to absorb all the vehicles. Consequently, resellers are tasked with selling them in other markets.

On paper, one might not be concerned about the origin of these Teslas, but that would be a misjudgment. The roads in Northern Europe are heavily salted in winter, which has significant consequences for the corrosion of mechanical components. Therefore, if these examples catch your eye, spend time inspecting the condition of the car’s underbody, especially since we have little experience regarding the long-term durability of Teslas…

That being said, for Teslas as young as this model shown here, the manufacturer’s warranty continues until 2026, which is relatively comfortable.
