Cheaper but still too expensive? The Polestar 3 arrives in Europe

Polestar has begun the first deliveries of the Polestar 3 on both sides of the Atlantic with an entry-level version.

The first vehicles have been handed over to customers on both continents, and deliveries are expected to ramp up throughout the summer. At Polestar’s headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, the first deliveries of the Polestar 3 were celebrated with fanfare during a special ceremony at the brand’s iconic Cube. In addition to their launch edition Polestar 3, these first customers also received a special gift box to commemorate the occasion.

Additional customer deliveries will take place as early as this weekend in Germany and Norway, while in the United States, the first models have been delivered in California, Illinois, Indiana, and New York.

An entry-level engine

To celebrate this, Polestar is introducing a single motor long-range entry-level version, offering consumers a slightly more reasonable entry point to get behind the wheel of its electric SUV. With a starting price of €79,890, including delivery fees, the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor is available to order in Europe starting today. North America and Australia will follow later in 2024.

But don’t rush to the Polestar France website to order one just yet. Simply because this page still does not exist! Polestar does not plan to enter France until around 2025, but the manufacturer’s situation is anything but bright. Polestar is struggling to find a sustainable positioning against the largest electric vehicle manufacturers. Like all electric vehicle companies, there is a painful growth period that can prove extremely difficult… and often leads to bankruptcy! With an entry-level model close to €80,000, when electric manufacturers are focusing their efforts on a positioning of €40,000, or half the price, it’s honestly not looking good…
