German activists vandalize a Tesla Cybertruck (video)

The Tesla dealership in Hamburg, Germany, which showcased a Cybertruck, was vandalized by environmental activists.

Following the artwork in museums, attention-seeking environmental activists targeted a Tesla Cybertruck displayed in Hamburg, Germany. Using orange paint, the collective “Last Generation” aimed to denounce the hypocrisy of the American manufacturer regarding planet protection and decarbonization.

Indeed, this group claims that Tesla, under the guise of promoting electric vehicles, prioritizes financial profits and accelerates the destruction of the planet through the use of rare and polluting materials. It is true that batteries are extremely resource-intensive, requiring vast amounts of earth to be excavated for extraction.

Symbol of Capitalism?

By attacking Tesla instead of Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche, the Last Generation activists are also addressing one of the major foreign investors in the country. The recent controversy surrounding the expansion of the Berlin Gigafactory, which resulted in significant deforestation, has strained public opinion in Germany. Pitting job creation against natural habitat reduction provides arguments for environmentalists who thus oppose ecology and capitalism.

On the substance, it’s challenging to defend a massive electric pickup weighing 3 tons with disastrous efficiency. Its electrification does not save the planet in any way; on the contrary, in an era where all advertising slogans invite energy frugality. Tesla is not shy about its contradictions. As for Elon Musk, the hundreds of SpaceX rockets sent into space to create a constellation of commercial satellites further tarnish the virtuous image he attempts to project for his companies with a disastrous carbon footprint.

Business first, with fierce internal battles at Tesla over the payment of a performance bonus exceeding 50 billion dollars.
