KIA EV6 Facelift: Even Better Range and Fast Charging

The highly successful Kia EV6 modernizes its design with a new look and improves its performance with even better range.

The first thing to remember when a car is being facelifted is the approach of significant discounts to clear out current stock. If the latest iteration doesn’t excite you, then head straight to your dealer and suggest that a substantial discount might motivate your purchase…

That said, know that the Kia EV6, although quite expensive and excluded from the ecological bonus, will evolve quite significantly in the coming weeks.

First of all, how can we ignore this new, much more stylish and modern look? It’s true that there was a certain generational gap between the front and the back of this South Korean car with XXL dimensions. The EV6 is a very large vehicle, hence its price exceeding 50,000 euros. The wheels and bumpers have also been redesigned for more dynamism.

Being aerodynamically focused, its shapes have largely been dictated by the pursuit of careful aerodynamic performance to ensure minimal drag.

Larger Batteries

The chassis now accommodates two new batteries. The “small” 58 kWh is replaced by an equivalent of 63 kWh, while the “large” 77.4 kWh grows to 84 kWh. In both cases, the range increases by over 50 kilometers, with the most generous seeing its range go from 528 to 584 km in mixed cycle.

To compensate for this slight increase in capacity, the charging speed also rises, going from 240 to 258 kW, allowing a potential charge from 10 to 80% in under 20 minutes. However, this still falls short of the symbolic barrier of 600 km that the best cars on the market can boast of exceeding. We first think of the Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD and Renault Scenic, which are over 15,000 euros cheaper.

Inside, the dashboard features new screens and starting can be done without a key thanks to… your fingerprints. Not bad for anti-theft!

Prices are not yet known for the French market, but don’t expect miracles. You will need to shell out at least 50,000 euros for the entry-level version. For a more affordable Kia electric vehicle, you will have to wait a few more months for the arrival of the smaller SUV Kia EV3.
