Oops, the Tesla Model Y Long Range misses the bonus by €510!

Tesla Model Y Bonus écologique

The promotion campaign for the Tesla Model Y is certainly welcome, but poorly thought out with the barely missed bonus for the Long Range version.

The idea from Tesla to currently slash prices on its Model Y to stimulate demand comes from a good place. But similar to a teacher’s assessment, one might say “Could do better.” Indeed, while the manufacturer has lowered the prices of all versions of its electric SUV by 4,000 euros (except for the Long Range Propulsion model available in stock), the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version is excluded from the additional 4,000 euro ecological bonus for just a few hundred euros.

It’s a pity, as this campaign would have allowed it to reduce its final price by 8,000 euros, thus restoring its relevance. Alas, Tesla does not negotiate its prices, and purchases are made exclusively on its website. No discussions with a dealer to obtain a discount or accessories. At least not for now…

As such, in the Tesla Model Y inventory, there are demonstration models with only 7 to 30 km on the clock. One could say they are completely new. They are discounted from 47,990 to 47,510 euros, a frankly sadistic approach for the customer.

Coming soon at 42,990 euros?

For half a thousand euros, it was eligible for the 4,000 euro ecological bonus! On paper, one might question the interest of the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version when the Long Range Propulsion version lives up to its name better. With 600 km of range, it significantly exceeds the All-Wheel Drive version’s 533 km. More expensive and less robust, so what’s the point?

Nonetheless, there are territories where having all-wheel drive is very important. We won’t discuss the improved acceleration, as there’s no interest in shaving off 0.9 seconds on the 0 to 100 km/h sprint unless you want to make the kids throw up, prematurely wear the tires, and drain the battery even faster.

Despite everything, knowing Tesla’s current commercial dynamics, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Californian manufacturer keeps this card up its sleeve to play in the coming weeks. For let’s not forget that the same Tesla Model Y are still being sold for 5,000 euros less in Spain at the moment. So there’s room for Tesla to maneuver.

Finally, if you’re not in a hurry to make a purchase, don’t forget that the Model Y will undergo significant changes in 2025. It could be an opportunity for new discounts to clear out stock…
