The Renault Symbioz cheaper before it becomes much cheaper?

Renault Symbioz Evolution

Lowering the price of a newly launched model like the Symbioz, even through an entry-level version, is never a good sign.

In the case of the Renault Symbioz, we could even add that announcing a cheaper version for 2025 than this less expensive version is the best way to shoot oneself in the foot. The famous phenomenon “Tomorrow we shave for free”. Furthermore, why call the first trim level Evolution? The message is unclear as we expect to find a trim level from which this Evolution is the evolution. It’s logical, but apparently not for the masterminds of the diamond brand.

Just 4 months after opening orders last May, here is an Evolution version listed in the catalog that positions itself as the entry level behind the Techno, Esprit Alpine, and Iconic trims. However, it is not a discounted version since in addition to the now mandatory driving aids, this Symbioz Evolution is equipped with keyless entry, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and a 10.4-inch screen to host the in-house infotainment system.

When Symbioz Becomes Its Own Competitor

This new Evolution version is now offered with the E-Tech full hybrid 145 engine at a very attractive price of 33,400 euros. Here, we indeed have a particularly aggressive price, but one must accept a few annoying details such as the 17-inch wheels with hubcaps. It feels a bit cheap for a car at this price point, but with a superior Iconic version at 34,900 euros, some savings had to be found.

So is it enough to trigger a purchase? Yes, if we stick to these facts, but certainly not when we learn that in 2025, two mild hybrid engines will position the Symbioz below the 30,000 euro mark. With the first deliveries of our Symbioz Full Hybrid scheduled for November 2024, isn’t it worth waiting a bit to compare? Asking the question often leads to answering it.
