In urban traffic, the electric motor solely drives the wheels, while the combustion engine gradually takes over at higher speeds, assisted by the electric motor during acceleration.
More efficiency, less penalty
Volkswagen announces significant gains in terms of efficiency. Compared to a Golf 1.5 eTSI of equivalent power, fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions decrease by 10 to 15% on the WLTP mixed cycle. In city driving, where electric operation is more frequently utilized, the gain can reach 35%, with no charging constraints.
The driver also has three driving modes – Eco, Comfort, and Sport – which modify the operation of the hybrid system to prioritize either efficiency or performance.
