Anod Hybride

Starting from the assumption that a bike commuter never travels several dozen kilometers per trip, Anod has developed a brilliant solution.

If you are a fan of long countryside bike rides, Anod’s concept is certainly not for you, but if you use a bike daily for short urban trips, this product might interest you. As pretty as it is clever, it has definitely caught our eye!

Anod is taking advantage of European Mobility Week to launch the Anod Hybrid. This hybrid electric bike features a compact battery that weighs only 650 g, which is five times lighter than a standard battery. Its size is no larger than that of a paperback book. Rechargeable in just 1.5 hours, it offers a range of 25 to 50 km, more than enough for daily city use. And a simple USB-C cable is enough to charge it, as easily as a phone.

This miniaturization is made possible by a patented energy recovery technology during braking, which required 7 years of research and development but is based on a concept that is ultimately very simple and ingenious. Thanks to a system of supercapacitors, each recovery phase allows for the storage of immediately usable energy. The bike always has assistance, even without the battery. Of course, the laws of physics dictate that you never recover as much energy as you consume, but by managing your electrical capital for starting, acceleration, and climbing, you should be able to get by. Thinking about it, it might even be quite fun!

As we suspected, the price matches the investments that Anod had to make for the development of this model, as the starting price is 3,499 euros. The first Anod Hybrids will be delivered as early as January 2025. In the meantime, the company offers free trials of this product designed and produced in France. Sign-ups are available on the manufacturer’s website.
