Platum disguises a Fiat 500e as an electric scooter

Platum partners with designer Pininfarina and the Fiat Centro Stile to create the E-Moped 500, a scooter heavily inspired by the Fiat 500e

The company specializing in micro-mobility, Platum, is making a bold move. It unveils at EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show, November 5 to 10, 2024) the E-Moped 500, an electric scooter whose bodywork greatly resembles that of the Fiat 500e. This is daring because the electric version of the Fiat 500 has not experienced great success compared to its larger sister, the original Fiat 500, a true icon of style.

But it’s not its body that lets it down, and the electric scooter version might actually be more likely to attract customers than the electric car. This two-wheeled version not only avoids straying from its heritage, but actually emphasizes it. Similar headlights to the 500e, the “500” inscription on the hood, and its affiliation with the famous city car are highlighted and should serve as selling points.

A beautiful body, but not only

The features of the E-Moped 500 are interesting and are detailed in a press release. Its L3 category motor has power comparable to that of a 125cc engine. Its 115-kilometer range allows the rider to explore the city’s streets multiple times without worrying about recharging the vehicle. Notably, the scooter’s battery is removable, making home charging possible. The E-Moped 500 can also reach a top speed of 80 km/h, suitable for city riding as well as on departmental roads or the ring road.

Practical features include a 13-inch front wheel for comfortable riding. Road bumps such as speed bumps and potholes won’t be significant obstacles. Lastly, the under-saddle storage of the E-Moped 500 is quite spacious and can hold a helmet along with some personal items.

Looking forward to seeing the success of the E-Moped 500 upon its official launch… or not. But this model already shows promise and should excite some Fiat enthusiasts.
