Tesla Luxe Package 2025

To make its Model S and Model X more appealing, Tesla is launching a Luxury package in the United States that comes as standard. But the price jumps!

The art of making noise with emptiness. This is the first feeling that crosses our minds upon discovering the new Luxury Package offered by Tesla to its buyers of the Model S or Model X. To convince oneself, one only needs to detail the content of it:

The “lifetime” charging already existed. For the rest, it is hard to talk about a “gift” in the sense that the price of each trim level of the Model S and Model X, which are already selling poorly, jumps by 10,000 dollars (8,550 euros). Thank you very much.

An unwanted gift?

Immediately, one wonders who might be interested in such an offer, considering that American customers do not buy cars over 100,000 dollars outright – except for exceptional and rare models – but instead lease them. Leasing where maintenance is included since the vehicle does not belong to the customer and remains Tesla’s property… which therefore has every interest in taking care of its fleet. Let’s detail the various points.

Premium Connectivity. This paid service offered by Tesla unlocks advanced services related to the car’s connectivity. Its “initial” price is 99 dollars per year, or 9.99 dollars monthly. Therefore, the gift is not that significant. The Premium Connectivity package adds satellite maps and real-time traffic, an internet browser on the central screen, Karaoke (really), software updates without depending on home Wi-Fi, and finally multimedia streaming for entertainment (Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, etc.).

However, the customer will need to get a private phone subscription to access unlimited data. Finally, at the time of reselling the Tesla, this service will not be transferable.

Charging in the Supercharger network. Again, nothing new under the sun. Likewise, the service will not be transferable at the time of sale. Tesla specifies that the customer will still be charged congestion fees at the chargers if they “nap” at the stations.

FSD (Supervised) autonomous driving system. Valued at 8,000 dollars, this is the most interesting aspect of this Luxury Package. Why? Because customers do not currently subscribe to it due to its outrageous cost and its relative reliability. Tesla is trying by all means to enforce its usage, as its investments are colossal. This so-called FSD Supervised system requires the driver to monitor the car’s actions. Therefore, they cannot enter a destination into the GPS and take a nap during the trip. Hence, what is the utility?

Maintenance program. In a service-oriented mindset to alleviate customer stress, this program is appealing because it takes care of everything. Maintenance, roadside assistance, the customer is relieved of certain issues. However, be cautious, as there are numerous service exclusions. Finally, this program is limited to 4 years, so the car will still be relatively young and spared from major technical troubles.

Some interesting information is noted, even for French, European, or other customers. Thus, Tesla recommends a four-wheel alignment once a year and two tire rotations per year to balance wear!

Windshield wipers will be replaced each year, cameras will also be cleaned annually, while cabin and air purification filters will only be replaced once every 4 years.

Conclusion

Tesla is trying by all means to sell high-end vehicles. But is the approach correct? By raising the price by 10,000 dollars, the American manufacturer mechanically reduces the pool of potential customers. Especially since some might not care about this Luxury Package with very little substance.

Supercharging and Premium Connectivity only cost a few thousand dollars over the lifespan of a car. As for maintenance (minimal on a Tesla and impacted by a long list of exclusions) or FSD Supervised, these are again non-essential services.

Tesla would have been better off truly offering this Luxury Package to gauge its relevance without reevaluating the selling price of its Model S and Model X.
