For 3 euros a day, Toyota offers a different way to ride a bike

Among a rich range of 4-wheeled vehicles lies an intruder, the Toyota Cargo Verso, a new electric cargo bike designed and manufactured in France.

Toyota continues its transformation and is equipping itself to achieve its ambition of becoming the world’s leading mobility company. The Cargo Verso is available in 270 dealerships across the Toyota France network on promotion for the price of 5,390 euros or starting at 79 euros per month, which is 3 euros per day.

This partnership with Douze Cycles, a French manufacturer based in Dijon for the past 10 years, is part of Toyota’s transformation. More than just an automobile manufacturer, the brand aims to become a provider of mobility solutions. This evolution involves the electrification of its vehicle ranges to achieve “zero emissions,” as well as investment in micro-mobility solutions, of which the bike is a part.

Toyota takes on the premium market

Toyota and Douze Cycles aim to sell over 5,000 electric bikes by 2026. This is a reasonable and realistic goal given the commercial strength of the Japanese giant. The cargo bike appears to be one of the most effective solutions for helping to decarbonize urban centers, as it can be used for the “last mile” by both individuals and delivery services. The Cargo Verso can transport up to three children or a substantial load of 100 kg in 270 liters of volume, thanks to a floor designed to accommodate European standard crates measuring 40 x 60 cm. Two versions, for individuals and professionals, are therefore offered.

Using the technical base of the Hêta marketed by Douze Cycles, it is equipped with a Yamaha PW-X3 motor and a Yamaha Crossover Extreme 500 battery. On the transmission side, it switches to Shimano with a Linkglide set. With a total length of 2750 mm and a wheelbase of 2160 mm, it is a long bicycle but its handling and maneuverability remain impeccable thanks to a well-studied kinematics.
