Trenitalia Frecciarossa

Trenitalia, a pioneer in the private French rail market, is increasingly active in France with its red arrows.

First European operator to establish itself in the French rail market in December 2021 with its Frecciarossa trains, Trenitalia offers high-speed train services that complement existing connections between Paris, Milan, and Lyon (Part-Dieu and Perrache). In August 2023, a landslide in Maurienne disrupted traffic between France and Italy, affecting the Paris-Milan line. After 19 months of interruption, this service will resume on April 1, 2025. Simultaneously, Trenitalia is expanding its network in France with the opening of a new line between Paris and Marseille from June 15, 2025.

Trenitalia France, a subsidiary of the FS group, is celebrating its third year of operation in the French market. During its back-to-school conference, the company presented a positive assessment of its beginnings and unveiled its plans for 2025. Among them, the resumption of the Paris-Milan route and the launch of a new line between Paris and Marseille.

Paris-Milan: resumption scheduled for April 1, 2025

After a 19-month suspension, the Paris-Milan line will reopen on April 1, 2025, with two round trips daily. Trains will depart from Paris at 7:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m., and from Milan at 6:25 a.m. and 3:53 p.m., with a journey time of between 6 hours 30 minutes and 7 hours. The route will serve Lyon, Chambéry, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (weekends from December 2024), Modane, Oulx, and Turin. Tickets are available through the usual booking channels.

Paris-Marseille: launch scheduled for June 15, 2025

Starting June 15, 2025, Trenitalia will offer four round trips daily between Paris and Marseille, connecting Paris-Gare-de-Lyon to Marseille-Saint-Charles in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Stops will include Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Avignon TGV, and Aix-en-Provence TGV. This new service aims to strengthen mobility between northern and southern France.

Trenitalia, voted Europe’s best rail company in 2024 by Transport & Environment, confirms its ambition to contribute to the growth of the French rail market. A little push to shake up SNCF, which can only benefit customers!
