The Tzen is a 24-meter-long fully electric bi-articulated bus. Presented this week at Busworld Brussels, it is ready to hit the road in Essonne.
After the autonomous bus of line 393, Île-de-France Mobilités continues innovating with a curious vehicle, half bus, half tramway, 100% electric. The Tzen 4 is a world first due to vehicles that combine three features: 24-meter-long bi-articulated buses, fully electric, and powered via ground charging. This innovative and more efficient new equipment is fully accessible to People with Reduced Mobility (PRM). All Tzen 4 buses will be spacious, bright, air-conditioned, equipped with wide sliding doors, and fitted with a video surveillance system.
The Tzen 4 stations will be easily identifiable and comfortable. Equipped with seats and shelters, they will provide accessible access for everyone, including people with reduced mobility.
Protected bike racks will also be installed near each station to promote different modes of mobility and intermodality.
All Tzen 4 buses will feature a visual and audible passenger information system indicating upcoming stops, travel times, connections, and waiting times before the next RER trains.
The Tzen 4 will offer several connections to facilitate travelers’ journeys: the RER D (at Grigny Centre, Orangis-Bois de l’Epine, Évry-Courcouronnes Centre, Le Bras de Fer, and Corbeil-Essonnes), the future T12 tram (at Ferme Neuve and Évry-Courcouronnes stations), Tzen 1 (at Corbeil-Essonnes station), and 37 bus lines.
