Peugeot resurrects the Meule!

With the SPx Project, Peugeot Motocycles reimagines the legendary 103 SP. Electric as it should be in the 21st century.

In the vibrant atmosphere of cultural revolution and social emancipation after May 68, the Peugeot 103 made its debut, triggering a thrill of freedom. The 103 was much more than just a means of transportation. It was a declaration of independence, a cry of freedom on two wheels. 

With a simple design, ease of use, and an affordable price accessible to all, it offered the general public the possibility to break free from the constraints of traditional, financially demanding individual mobility or underdeveloped public transportation. The Peugeot 103 paved the way for a new era of personal travel, for everyone.

Spirit of 103 SP without the noise

In 2024, the SPx project embodies what Peugeot sees as a faithful reinterpretation of the spirit of freedom of the Peugeot 103, this time with an electric motor. Blasphemy, sacrilege, or rebirth?

The SPX retains the recipe that made its prestigious predecessor successful, with an aluminum frame, optimized lightweighting, and a limited number of parts. Add a pinch of recycled materials to keep up with the times, and here is the motorcycle of the future!

One might ultimately be tempted to say that it is, alas, only a prototype, as the recipe from 1971 could fit such a vehicle perfectly. The switch to electric will ultimately be a blessing for residents who will no longer have to endure the exhaust noise. However, one question remains: if it ever goes into production, will there be an optional twisted handlebar?
