Prohibited in Paris on August 31, Lime pays tribute to the scooter

End of the free-floating scooter program in Paris starting September 1, 2023. Lime reflects with a tribute.

“I love you, neither love nor hate“. The tumultuous relationship between the capital and dockless scooters is coming to an end. For regular users of this service, it is seen as a completely populist decision lacking any meaningful reflection. Mobiwisy already covered the topic during a short street interview.

Electric bikes, suffering from the same issues, remain allowed to circulate contrary to expectations. Don’t look for logic; it’s too late. And even less so less than a year before the Paris Olympics, where millions of tourists will need to move around on surface streets… since the subway system has been failing for years now.

Lime, one of the dockless electric scooter operators, is encouraging its customers to switch to the Bike offer (10,000 in service in the capital), but there is a high risk that “scooter users” will purchase their own two-wheeled vehicle… Hello ecology.

In a sort of farewell postcard to the scooter, Lime takes stock: 87 million kilometers traveled in Paris since the service was introduced in 2018, with an estimated CO2 savings of 28,613 tons.

Electric scooters in good working condition will be redistributed to other French or European cities.
