Mulhouse m2A vélo

Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération (m2A) launched the new version of its self-service bike program, VéloCité.

This modernized system is operated in the Mulhouse area by Nextbike following a successful tender awarded in 2024, and it is part of the area’s sustainable development and soft mobility strategy. Starting next July, the new service will include 640 pedal-assisted bikes distributed across 64 stations. m2A’s goal is to achieve a more uniform coverage of the territory by including now 8 municipalities within the agglomeration. The network is designed to meet daily mobility needs, with stations located near activity centers, schools, public facilities, and train stations.

Among the notable innovations, all pedal-assisted bikes are equipped with connected systems that enable their geolocation and better fleet management. Some models also offer electric assistance, making it easier to ride through hilly areas.

Several subscription options are available for users: daily, monthly, or yearly, with the first 30 minutes free and then €1 for each additional half-hour. Without a subscription, access costs €1.50, then €1 per half-hour. The service is accessible 24/7 via the “m2A Mobility Account” app.

An Environmental and Social Ambition

This renewal of the service aligns with m2A’s commitments to ecological transition. It aims to promote a modal shift towards greener mobility options, complementing the Soléa transportation network. At the same time, the VéloCité deployment contributes to energizing the territory by improving accessibility and supporting inclusive mobility.

By summer, the service is expected to continue evolving with the addition of new stations and the gradual integration of more pedal-assisted bikes. The agglomeration is also implementing awareness campaigns to encourage everyday cycling practice.
