Zeway launches its new 125 electric scooter for rent

The Zeway electric scooter rental service with interchangeable batteries offers a third model, SwapperX+ equivalent to 125 cc.

Among motorists, buying or renting a car has become a common practice, but this choice is less widespread for two-wheeled motor vehicles. They are still largely limited to traditional purchasing. Zeway is thus one of the few services offering electric scooter rentals, only in Paris, but with a little extra something.

A scooter with exchangeable batteries in 50 seconds

Zeway provides two different electric scooters. Its SwapperOne is a small scooter equivalent to 50 cc, with modest power via the Bosch 3 kW (4 hp) motor. The SwapperX is a more modern and powerful model (4 kW), with larger wheels of 14 and 16 inches (compared to 12). It’s also heavier, weighing 92 kg on the scale compared to 74 kg for the SwapperOne.

Outside of vehicles, the company stands out with its interchangeable batteries, like those used by Gogoro or Yamaha in Taiwan. Simply insert your empty scooter battery into one of the 40 stations scattered across the capital and its suburbs. It takes 50 seconds, after which you leave with a fully charged battery. Range varies, as the SwapperOne has only one battery for about 40 km, while the SwapperX reaches 60 km.

The SwapperX+ Completes the Offer

The new model is anything but small, sitting at the top of Zeway’s lineup. The SwapperX+ looks like the SwapperX but with a notable difference. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h thanks to a 5 kW (versus 4 kW) power, it falls into the L3e scooter category, thus equivalent to 125 cc.

Note that a motorcycle license is mandatory to operate it. Its weight remains unchanged, as does its capacity for 2 batteries, providing 60 km of autonomy.

How Much Does Zeway Electric Scooter Rentals Cost?

Renting these two electric scooters costs €130 and €139 per month with a 3-year commitment. The rates increase to €165 and €190 per month for a no-commitment plan. Annually, that’s about €1,560 and €1,668 respectively for a 36-month contract, or €4,680 and €5,004 total.

More powerful, the Zeway SwapperX+ is more expensive, costing €149/month with a 36-month contract or €210/month without commitment. The yearly price is thus €1,788 over 3 years or €5,364 in total.

The price of Zeway includes insurance, maintenance, and recharge exchange. Of course, charging via the included cable is at the user’s expense. For those who want easy home charging (in 5 hours), a dock is available as an option, along with a windshield, each costing €150.
