Since July 19, Peugeot has been offering a new long-term leasing scheme for the e-208. With a monthly payment of €150, the offer may seem attractive, but it is subject to conditions.

Spanning 24 months, the lease begins with an initial payment of €10,500. Fortunately, the ecological bonus of €6,000 and the €2,500 trade-in premium significantly reduce the cost, bringing it down to €2,000 after these aids are deducted. However, the trade-in premium cannot be received without scrapping a car. As a reminder, the models eligible for this aid are, in the current state, diesel cars from before 2011 and gasoline cars from before 2006.

Additionally, Peugeot calculated its scheme based on a very low monthly mileage. The lease only covers 500 km per month. Beyond this limit, each additional km will be charged at 7 cents.

Only on the basic Peugeot 208 electric

Furthermore, this new long-term rental is only offered on the base Active trim. The equipment is not inadequate, including air conditioning, power front windows, automatic headlight activation, and a 7-inch touchscreen as standard. However, the 208 Active does not have LED headlights, alloy wheels, or a digital i-Cockpit instrument cluster. It also lacks a rearview camera, traffic sign recognition, and keyless start system.

The e-208 is powered by a 136 hp electric motor. With its 50 kWh battery, it offers a theoretical range of 362 km (WLTP cycle). The purchase price is €33,950 for the Active trim. Like all electric cars, the e-208 potentially costs less to operate than a thermal vehicle. This is particularly true today, given the soaring fuel prices. Peugeot estimates that a full recharge of the e-208 costs an average of €8.

Stellantis has also launched similar leasing options for the Opel e-Corsa and Mokka-e. Subsequently, the offer will be extended to other electric models within the group.
