A conventional diesel truck equipped with a mixer can, on average, transport up to 8 m³ of concrete in Europe, depending on current regulations. However, adding batteries for an electric model reduces this capacity.

To address this drawback, Renault Trucks developed a five-axle model: the Renault Trucks E-Tech C 10×4, designed to carry up to 10 m³ of concrete. Despite the extra axle, it maintains excellent maneuverability, essential in urban environments and on work sites with restricted access. The vehicle’s architecture has been redesigned, notably with a vertical repositioning of batteries behind the cab, freeing up space on the chassis. This design allows for a short wheelbase and a reduced turning radius.

Schwing Stetter has also developed a fully electric concrete mixer drum, powered directly by the truck’s batteries. This integration guarantees emission-free operation of CO₂, contributing to the sector’s reduction of its carbon footprint.

With an autonomy of up to 140 km thanks to an intermediate recharge of 45 minutes (or 110 km on a single charge), this truck can perform four daily trips of 35 km, well-suited for typical routes between concrete plants and construction sites. Renault Trucks supports its customers in optimizing battery number and recharge strategies to avoid over-dimensioning that would weigh down the vehicle, increase operating costs, and negatively impact the environment.

Thanks to optimal battery sizing, an optimized load capacity, and reduced energy costs, this electric model positions itself as a financially viable alternative to diesel trucks, while meeting the strictest environmental standards.

The Renault Trucks E-Tech C 10×4 will be sold in Switzerland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Finland, and Slovakia, where regulations allow five-axle trucks with a maximum authorized weight of 42 tonnes. Renault Trucks also advocates for harmonization of regulations across Europe to accelerate the adoption of electric transport in the concrete sector.
