Mazda2 Hybrid 2026: The Toyota Yaris Designed by Mazda

Based on the Toyota Yaris hybrid, the 2026 Mazda2 Hybrid relies on proven technology, enhanced equipment, and a benchmark efficiency to appeal to urban drivers.

The Mazda2 Hybrid does not hide its origins for long: at first glance, the Japanese city car strongly resembles the Toyota Yaris. And for good reason, this Mazda is completely built on the platform and technology of Toyota’s hybrid star. This acknowledged lineage is now a true hallmark of quality and efficiency in the segment of electrified city cars.

As a result of the collaboration between Mazda and Toyota, the Mazda2 Hybrid takes the technical basis of the European Yaris hybrid, known for its efficiency, reliability, and city driving comfort. Under the hood, we find the same full hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, producing a combined power of 116 hp. This system allows frequent operation in electric mode in urban areas, with no charging constraints.

The Mazda2 focuses on equipment

For its 2026 model year, the Mazda2 Hybrid benefits from a noticeable upgrade. Comfort features improve starting from the entry-level trim with heated seats, a photochromatic interior rearview mirror, and electric rear windows. Mazda also enhances the design with three new body colors and modernized interior ambiances on higher trims.

Safety has not been overlooked. The driver inattention alert system with a camera is now standard across the range, further enhancing the technological offerings of the city car.

The Mazda2 Hybrid 1.5l 116hp in Prime-Line trim starts at €26,350, in Centre-Line trim from €27,100, and in Exclusive-Line trim from €29,200. Mazda France also launches a special series “Homura Urban Edition,” based on the Homura trim, starting at €30,900, featuring specific decorative elements, exclusive badges, and dedicated accessories to strengthen its urban and dynamic character.

With this Mazda2 Hybrid, the Hiroshima brand is counting on a tried-and-tested recipe: Toyota hybrid technology dressed in Mazda style and universe.
