Honda boasts about the “Sound of Silence” of its electric motorcycle WN7

With the WN7, expected in European dealerships in the coming weeks, Honda is opening a new chapter in its history.

The first mass-produced electric motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer, the Honda WN7 does not aim to artificially reproduce the sensations of a combustion engine. On the contrary, the brand claims a new riding experience based on silence, fluidity, and a connection with the environment.

At the helm of the project, Masatsugu Tanaka explains that the goal was not to design “an electric copy of a combustion motorcycle”, but a machine capable of fully leveraging the unique qualities of electric vehicles. This philosophy, summarized by the slogan “Be the Wind,” places the rider at the center of a more sensory experience, where mechanical noise gives way to ambient sounds, the feeling of the wind, and direct contact with the road.

The pleasure without the sound?

Honda assures that it has maintained the fundamentals that make up the DNA of its motorcycles: mass centralization, chassis balance, and intuitive throttle response. The Honda WN7 thus focuses on linear acceleration, immediate torque availability, and great smoothness of operation. Four riding modes – Standard, Sport, Rain, and Eco – allow for the adjustment of torque management and regenerative braking according to conditions.

The design complements this minimalist approach. Free from the traditional elements of a combustion motorcycle, the Honda electric motorcycle adopts a sleek silhouette and integrates its battery as a fully-fledged structural element. The single-sided swingarm and belt drive also enhance the quiet operation.

On the charging front, Honda announces a built-in 6.6 kW charger compatible with Type 2 and CCS2, with a fast charge from 20 to 80% in 30 minutes.
