Rebirth acquires Peugeot Cycle and Gitane

The Rebirth Group has signed a takeover agreement with Cycleurope France, ensuring the survival of Gitane and Peugeot Cycles.

For nearly 20 years, a pioneer of electric mobility in France, the Rebirth Group is a leader in the electric assisted bicycle (EAB) sector with brands such as Solex, Matra Cycles Lejeune, and Coleen. With the acquisition of the production site and activities of Cycleurope France, the new group integrates the Gitane brand, the Peugeot Cycles license, and the affiliated VELO & OXYGEN shops. The Rebirth Group has also confirmed the takeover of 100% of the workforce.

With a long history of passion and victories that began in 1928, Gitane has become a cycling legend, outfitting the greatest names in competition over the years. This French brand continues to resonate through generations and supplies the La Poste group for daily mail carrier rounds.

Since 1885, Peugeot Cycles has offered a complete range of classic and electric bikes that meet the challenges of new mobility. A wide collection of bicycles is manufactured in Romilly-sur-Seine in Aube (10) to meet all requests across different categories: Electric, Legend, City, Trekking, Mountain, and Junior.

Finally, the VELO & OXYGEN network consists of a group of specialized shops for the sale and repair of bicycles, mountain bikes, and all models of electric bicycles. Relying on a network of about a hundred retailers, the brand also has a bike rental service. The Rebirth Group will enhance this concept store.
