Eovolt, French folding electric bikes with three faces
This page is translated from the original post "Eovolt, des vélos pliants électriques français à trois visages" in French.

In three sizes, the French brand Eovolt’s catalog offers a nice selection of electric folding bikes at reasonable prices.
They are becoming more and more noticeable; Eovolt’s electric folding bikes are making their mark in cities. Naturally, these French machines appeal increasingly to commuters and meet the urgent need for space in transportation and housing. In spring 2022, the range evolved, replacing the Bafang motor with a proprietary one. The City was renamed Morning with a single gear version (more than mono gear), and the Confort became the Afternoon with a suspended front fork (like the X version). A third model, the Evening, was added to the catalog. Since then, the Afternoon and Evening have updated their batteries for 2023.
Eovolt Morning, the practical one
The smallest of the three Eovolt bikes is the Morning. Foldable at the frame and handlebar level, this model measures 58 cm long, 42 cm high, and 75 cm wide. Built on 16-inch wheels, it limits its weight to 16.5 kg to remain portable in certain situations. Equipped with a 4-speed transmission, the proprietary motor is integrated into the rear hub, while the battery is housed in the seat tube. Its capacity is 6.4 Ah, providing an autonomy of 30 to 50 km depending on the brand.

The price of this bike today is €1,699, the same as at launch in May. This is twice the price of a Xiaomi Mi Smart Electric Folding Bike, which the Eovolt surpasses with its rear motor, foldable frame, and assembly in France. But it’s half the price of a Brompton C Line in Electric version, the reference folding bike. However, it also relies on a front motor and a battery mounted ahead of the fork.
Eovolt Afternoon, the versatile one
The mid-range Eovolt is the Afternoon, the big brother of the Morning. With similar design, it is more imposing thanks to its 20-inch wheels. When folded, it measures 85 cm in length, 73 cm wide, and 46 cm high. This foldable bike is also heavier, weighing 22 kg, making it less suitable for frequent transport. The brand recommends it more for weekend trips by train or car trunk. More versatile, with a 7-speed transmission, it has a larger battery. However, the capacity decreased in 2023, from 14 to 10.5 Ah. The autonomy thus drops from 70-100 km to 50-70 km, according to the official website.

Its price is €2,099, without any potential purchase aid. A Decathlon BTwin E Fold 500 costs half as much but features a rear battery, thinner wheels, no suspension, and a lower range (max 50 km).
Eovolt Evening, the 24-inch compact bike
The largest among Eovolt’s electric bikes is the Evening, an original in the sector. With 24-inch wheels, an uncommon size, this model includes a foldable handlebar (more curved in 2023). Consequently, it reduces its storage space in height (80 cm) and especially in width, with only 30 cm! An advantage for home storage or in transit. Weighing 22 kg, it uses the same motor as the Afternoon and Morning, and a 10.5 Ah battery (also reduced in 2023). Its range is between 50 and 70 km depending on the mode of assist.

The Eovolt is available at a price of €2,099, excluding subsidies. In comparison, the E Legend Siena in 24 inches, fully foldable and less expensive (€1,899), can be found. However, it is manufactured in Portugal and not in France.
