Due to lack of awareness, LPG remains ignored by consumers, even though it allows for significant savings. And even more so, it is underestimated by Renault.

Too good to be true. That’s essentially what drivers who remain skeptical about LPG, a fuel based on liquefied petroleum gas, often say. Even today, this energy source suffers from bad publicity, even twenty years after fires that occurred in underground parking lots. None of that is an issue anymore; the technology is well controlled, but reputations are stubborn. The same goes for concerns about corrosiveness affecting the hoses and other mechanical parts.

Finally, without being a math whiz, LPG requires a certain agility with numbers. Why? Because it increases fuel consumption by about 20… but the cost per liter is 45% lower. It quickly becomes clear that, while the price of SP95 still hovers around 1.8 euros on average in France (-2.40% over a month), the overall equation remains very attractive.
