NamX HUV: Removable Tanks on a French Hydrogen SUV
This page is translated from the original post "NamX HUV : des réservoirs amovibles sur un SUV à hydrogène français" in French.

A new manufacturer has just emerged, and it is French, or more precisely based in France!
“collective project built with the best industrial and technical partners from Europe and Africa”. The company counts among its ranks former R&D division director at Renault, as well as the former vice president of Matra.
NamX’s first model is called HUV. Developed with the help of Pininfarina, it takes the form of a Coupé SUV and features an electric motor connected to a fuel cell. It runs on hydrogen, like a Toyota Mirai or a Hyundai Nexo. But the HUV has a particular feature that sets it apart from these models: removable tanks.
In addition to the main tank, the HUV indeed has six removable capsules, bringing the total range to 800 km. They are located at the rear of the vehicle, behind a small hatch, and could theoretically be swapped in 30 seconds.
The idea may seem a bit unusual at first glance, but given the dire lack of infrastructure for hydrogen cars, all initiatives deserve consideration. Similar to Tesla’s Superchargers, NamX could perhaps deploy capsule stations all over the territory or even deliver full units directly to homes or workplaces. Drivers would thus be less hindered by the lack of stations.

Up to 550 hp for the four-wheel drive model
In its basic configuration, the HUV will have a 300 hp engine, allowing it to reach a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. A second version called GTH will see its power increase to 550 hp. While the basic HUV belongs to the propulsion family, the GTH will feature four-wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
NamX will showcase its HUV at the Paris Motor Show, opening its doors on October 18th. Commercial launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. Prices will vary between 65,000 and 95,000 euros, depending on the configuration chosen. Interested parties can already preorder their unit on the brand’s website.
