Cheaper, the Toyota Prius Still Outperforms the Tesla Model 3!

Already awarded in the United States for its technology, the Toyota Prius is now recognized for its design.

The title of North American Car of The Year was awarded to the new Prius at the beginning of the year. This American accolade is given by a jury composed of 50 automotive journalists, representing various types of media—print, online, and audiovisual—in the United States and Canada. This is an award that the second generation of Prius had already received in 2004.

On March 27, the new Toyota Prius was named World Car Design of the Year at the New York International Auto Show. A new prestigious award, the result of a rigorous selection process worldwide. A panel of six renowned designers first made a preselection among 70 new models of the year eligible for this award. Subsequently, a jury of 100 journalists from 29 countries voted in secret ballots to choose the World Car Design of the Year from the preselected models.

Confident in its hybrid roots

Since its unveiling in 2023, the fifth generation of Prius has significantly restored the reputation of the model, which for many remains the little black sheep that introduced electricity into the automotive henhouse.

The fifth-generation hybrid technology from Toyota offers the perfect combination of the performance of a true electric vehicle with the ease of use of a hybrid. Electric for daily use thanks to its 12.6 kWh battery providing 86 km of range without consuming a single drop of fuel, and combustion for long trips with its 40-liter tank.

In France, the Prius just received a nice boost. Too expensive at its launch in early 2023, especially compared to a Tesla Model 3 “phase 1” which was already cheaper (at €41,990) and discounted by €5,000, the relevance of the Japanese model was not obvious.

Since then, the American competitor is no longer eligible for the bonus, and its price has temporarily stabilized at €42,990, excluding promotions and discounts of the day… while the price of the Toyota Prius has dropped by €2,000 to €41,900. To the point that one finally wonders if the Japanese model has suddenly become the perfect car.
