Renault Symbioz: barely in dealerships and already discounted

The new Renault Symbioz seems to be finding its place in the wide range of SUVs offered by the French manufacturer, already with discounts.

Is the name Symbioz well chosen to define the new hybrid SUV from Renault? From a semantic point of view, symbiosis defines an intimate and mutually beneficial association between two organisms. In the case of this vehicle positioned between the Captur and the Scenic in terms of size and habitability, one is still searching for the reason behind such a name.

Never mind. Presented on May 2, 2024, after a few weeks of teasing, it has already appeared in dealerships. And the least one can say is that its sellers are not wasting time adjusting its price. Like this example found in Saint-Nazaire.

Offered in the sporty Esprit Alpine trim with a 1.6-liter E-Tech hybrid engine delivering 145 horsepower, its configured price was set at 41,400 euros. A “hybrid” price in 2024 that places it against far more formidable competitors. For instance, the Tesla Model Y Propulsion is currently priced at 36,990 euros, with 285 horsepower at the rear wheels, XXL space, and nearly no operating costs.

New and Already Anachronistic?

To make it subtly more attractive, this example is thus discounted, before negotiation, by -5%, or -2,070 euros. This brings its price below the 40,000 euro mark, but it remains very expensive, even compared to a Renault Scenic E-Tech electric that is nearly 5,000 euros cheaper thanks to the ecological bonus.

In the end, who is the Renault Symbioz aimed at? At Mobiwisy, honestly, we cannot answer you. This tendency to endlessly roll out SUVs at Renault is becoming almost pathological. Captur, Symbioz, Arkana, Scenic, Austral, Rafale, Espace, stop it already!

But ultimately, the very idea of investing in a thermal SUV seems to raise questions at this pivotal time of automotive transition.
