This totally useless Tesla accessory is essential!

Tesla finally offers official high-definition door projector lights for the Model 3 and Model Y.

The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y come standard with these lights called “Puddle Light,” which illuminate the ground whenever the driver’s or passenger’s door is opened. A very handy tool to avoid stepping in the wrong place at night or to locate a dropped object on the ground. With this accessory, instead of a simple light, a Tesla logo is projected onto the ground in high definition.

If you are a savvy Tesla fan, you already know that many suppliers offer such lights. But every time a car was equipped with them, not a dollar went into the pockets of the American manufacturer. Seeing the success they were experiencing, Tesla certainly thought it was better to include them in the official catalog.

Installing the lights is very simple as they clip under the doors. Each package comes with a set of two blocks, one for the driver’s side and one for the passenger side, so if you want to upgrade all four doors, you’ll need to buy two sets.

The official Tesla store offers them in the United States for the Model 3 and Y for only $65. While this is a bit more expensive than accessories offered for years on many online sales sites, they have the advantage of being OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and will not pose any warranty issues in case of a short circuit! Many owners who installed lower-end models found themselves with inoperable window controls or, worse, burnt door locks.
