This electric car is the most efficient in the world

He who wants to travel far takes care of their battery. Lucid may have decided to draw inspiration from Jean Racine for its Air Pure sedan.

Lucid proudly announced that its 2025 Air Pure is now the most efficient car in the world, with a consumption measured at 8 kilometers per kilowatt-hour.

According to Lucid, the Air Pure benefits from new technological advancements that make this impressive consumption record of 12.5 kWh per 100 km possible. The manufacturer highlights the integration of an energy-efficient heat pump first seen in the Air Sapphire, then added to the Air Grand Touring lineup for 2024. This ultra-compact and high-performance heat pump is now standard on every Lucid Air. With its reasonably sized 84 kWh battery, the Air Pure thus offers a range of 676 km, making it the most energy-efficient vehicle available on the market today.

Having no reason to doubt this performance, we can only be pleased to see manufacturers taking this virtuous path. Lower consumption allows for a reduction in battery size and therefore its weight. Less weight means less energy is needed to generate movement, resulting in better range. A smaller battery also minimizes environmental impact by requiring fewer raw materials and exerting less pressure on charging networks.

This direction taken by Lucid could be the right one and help the brand stay afloat. It would be extremely dishonest to criticize the quality of Lucid Air, but Lucid Motors would have lost an additional 752 million dollars in 2023, for a total loss of 2.17 billion since its inception! It doesn’t matter because the brand’s ties to the Saudi sovereign fund make these financial questions extremely vulgar and out of place. Hence, innovations continue to follow one another, and the large Air sedan proudly continues its journey.
