The “Rolls” of BYD unveiled in Abu Dhabi

BYD Yangwang Altior

With the Yangwang Altior, BYD enters the circle of ultra-luxury. Unveiled in Abu Dhabi, this imposing electric sedan caters as much to its rear passengers as to its technological ambitions.

Antagonistic doors, integrated umbrellas, and a silhouette that commands respect: the new Yangwang knows the codes of the great British houses. But behind this Chinese “Rolls” is BYD, whose prestige brand reveals a new showcase with the Altior. Its name, borrowed from Latin, means “higher.” The program is announced.

At 5.60 meters long and a wheelbase of 3.50 meters, this sedan provides generous space for its four occupants. Its design is inspired by the “ding,” an ancient Chinese ceremonial vase made of bronze. A cultural reference extended within the cabin, featuring Hetian yellow jade and Suzhou embroidery. Full-grain leather, pure wool, and natural wood complete this rolling lounge.

Nothing is too much

In the rear, two “zero-gravity” seats come with mechanical massage and leg rests. A relaxation mode coordinates their inclination with lighting, music, and fragrance diffusion. For passengers less inclined to nap, Yangwang provides a motorized 21.4-inch screen, a Dynaudio system with 39 speakers, and a refrigerator. The office can wait.

Under this display of refinement, the Altior adopts four independent electric motors and an active suspension that anticipates road irregularities. It can also turn in place and, according to the manufacturer, has an emergency floating function. Enough to enrich the conversation between two appointments.

BYD finally announces over 1,000 kilometers of range according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, without yet detailing the power or charging performance. Two editions, Executive and Bespoke, are planned, including a limited series in brown and gold shades. One essential piece of information remains for ordering your next lounge: the price.
