The Renault Kangoo, a hit in its electric version

First appeared in 1997, the Renault Kangoo has become the best-selling electric vehicle in its category since 2011.

In 2002, the French brand with the diamond released its first electric Kangoo called “Kangoo Electri’cité.” It then released a hybrid vehicle, the “Kangoo Elect’road,” produced between 2002 and 2005.

What was the purpose of selling these vehicles?

These are vehicles hardly anyone has heard of. Yet, they contributed to developing the Kangoo we all know today. A timeless vehicle, practical for everyone. Customers observed “Flying doctors” inspecting models to identify areas for improvement on the Kangoo. A way to maximize every minor enhancement.

Recognition in 2011

In 2011, the Renault Kangoo became the first electric vehicle to win the “International Van of the Year” award. This established the category of electric vans and multi-space vehicles.

It has been 12 years since the Renault has received the award, with sales continuously increasing. After more than a decade, the iconic vehicle from the diamond brand has sold over 90,000 units with its electric range. Counting vehicles for private owners, total sales have reached 100,000.

Made in France

The Renault Kangoo Electric is built in the Maubeuge factory, in northern France. This vehicle will therefore be eligible in the future for the eco-friendly bonus that the Macron government aims to implement, to stop subsidizing vehicles produced in Asia.
