The Official Video of the New MG Cyberster
This page is translated from the original post "La vidéo officielle du nouveau MG Cyberster" in French.

After the teaser, here are now the official photos and videos of MG Motors’ new 100% electric roadster, the Cyberster!
This was the main attraction of the past week and it is also featured in issue 2409 of Auto Hebdo. The new MG Cyberster marks the return of a characterful roadster at MG Motors, two decades after the disappearance of the legendary MG TF. At the time, the small English convertible competed against Fiat Barchetta and other Mazda MX-5s. It was appreciated for its rear-wheel-drive handling and lively mechanics. The acquisition by the Chinese company SAIC gave it a brief resurgence in 2008, when it was produced again in very limited quantities.
The year 2023 marks a new turning point for MG, which, buoyed by impressive sales figures, indulges itself with an unconventional model that goes against the current market trend, dominated by city cars and SUVs in the top spots.
The MG Cyberster aims to combine pleasure with efficiency. “The time has come to present a brand new MG that connects with our sporting history and whose design fascinates in every aspect. MG is already on track for a sporty and electric future: it’s the best way to celebrate our 100 years” explains Haojie Guo, CEO of SAIC Motor France.
Dazzling Performances
Technically, however, it will be far from the 16-valve 4-cylinder engines of the past, with a very high-performance electric motor. According to MG, its convertible baby would be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. Just as fast as a supercar! In terms of range, the Cyberster could reach 800 km according to Chinese standards CLTC, which is nearly 700 km under the WLTP cycle.

Carl Gotham, Director of Advanced Design at the Marylebone design studio in London, states: “Our intention was to imagine a roadster for a new generation of sports car drivers starting from a blank sheet, opening a particularly exciting new chapter for MG“.
Nevertheless, with over 2 tons expected on the scale, it is uncertain whether the dynamism of the past will be fully restored. Nor its competitive pricing. Stay tuned for the verdict in summer 2024!
