The Denza Z9 hunting break with 950 hp will be sold in Europe!

If you are not yet familiar with Denza, be prepared for a surprise. The BYD group brand is preparing a grand European arrival.

In 2001, Mercedes decided to sell its shares in the young automotive company Denza to BYD, with whom it had founded the company. Four years later, the car manufacturer might regret this decision! In early April, barely camouflaged prototypes of the Denza Z9 GT were spotted in Germany near Stuttgart. A little jab at the German manufacturers, including Mercedes, that made quite a stir as this Z9 openly targets German sports cars.

The Denza Z9 GT measures 5,180 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,500 mm in height. It’s smaller than a Mercedes EQS, but slightly larger than a Taycan. With such dimensions, finding customers who do not necessarily want to use their beautiful car in the city daily might be a challenge…

With a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, a large panoramic glass roof, and an intelligent electric rear wing, there’s a hint of Porsche in this Chinese vehicle… but mainly there are three electric motors! One motor of 230 kW at the front and two motors of 240 kW each at the rear for a combined power of 710 kW (950 hp).

Unfortunately, the Denza Z9 GT does not perform any miracles on the scale with a curb weight of 2,900 kg. Therefore, it is completely pointless to label it as a pure sports car. It’s more of a sporty and dynamic shooting brake, which is already very good. One can only hope that this weight will be beneficial for range, with a high-capacity next-generation BYD battery.

The Z9 GT will be launched by the end of the year in China and will arrive in Europe in 2025. While its selling price in China of $50,000 is likely to drive European manufacturers crazy, it will be significantly increased for its arrival in Europe. But not by much, as BYD is the top student in the Chinese class and avoids a hefty customs penalty from the European Commission. So at around 70,000 Euros, do you see any competitors for it?
