Tesla is no longer giving you this gift

The Mobile Connector has now disappeared from the standard equipment of Teslas. A logical choice or a meanness?

If you are today’s happy electric vehicle driver, whether it’s a Tesla or another brand, you know that to make the last step towards electric mobility, you first need reassurance. First of all, you need to know if electric mobility suits your usage profile. If you drive 1,000 km per day on the highway for work, forget it right away because your life will become a hell filled with charging stations. If you have no means of charging near your home, believe us, you won’t be happy with your Tesla either. You can’t drive in peace while constantly fearing running out of charge, or wasting hours recovering a few kilometers of range at an ugly city charging station. You always need to have a minimum amount of battery ready to deal with unforeseen events.

A drag on you that Tesla gets rid of

For this last point, there are charging cables that allow you to connect the car to a simple 220 V outlet to get a little charge. At Tesla, this is the Mobile Connector. Forget the possibility of using this cable every day to charge your car from a garden outlet. The charging speed is dramatic with less than 10 km per hour of charge, and you risk disturbing your home electrical installation. It is only a backup solution.

Anyway, if you have a private house, you can install a home wall charger, and that’s guaranteed bliss with miles of range for cheap.

Tesla has therefore realized that the vast majority of its Mobile Connectors are never used. So it makes sense to stop distributing them everywhere. This decision cannot honestly be criticized. If you really need it for your peace of mind, it is still available as an option for 200 euros.
