Tesla Model Y at €38,990, but where are they?

For a few days now, Tesla has been proudly announcing the new Model Y priced at only 38,990 euros. We tried to buy one.

Tesla therefore announces on its French commercial website, a cash selling price of 38,990 euros. This offer is valid on preconfigured Model Y’s, unfortunately excluding the Model Y Long Range Propulsion, ordered after June 14 and delivered until June 29, 2024 inclusive. The Model Y Propulsion with Tesla’s 2,000 euro bonus and a 4,000 euro ecological bonus is indeed at 38,990 euros.

No trick here, the offer is very clear and only applies to vehicles in stock. We checked the configurator, and the Propulsion is at 44,990 euros before deducting the 4,000 euro Ecological Bonus, so 40,990 euros in the end. No other discount.

As Tesla asks us, we will take a look at the list of preconfigured models, and surprise! No new Tesla Model Y is offered at 38,990 euros. There is indeed a white Propulsion at this price, but it shows 54 km on the clock. Sorry, but that does not correspond to a new car, even though of course, it is fundamentally a new car with such low mileage.

The first new Model Y Propulsion available is listed at 40,180 euros after deducting the 4,000 euro ecological bonus and the famous 2,000 euro bonus, simply titled “price adjustment”. A price difference that is explained by a two-tone Premium interior.

Nothing too dramatic since this list of preconfigured vehicles changes every day, but acknowledge that it doesn’t look very serious! Count on us to check every day if Tesla keeps its commitments.
